Wines
Sweetness: Dry
Grape: Shiraz
Grape info: A native of the northern Rhône valley (Syrah) where, until relatively recently, it was more-or-less confined, Shiraz produces full bodied wines with complex notes of leather, liquorice, and black pepper supported by soft, structural tannins, a weighty mid palate and age-worthy potential.
About: Riebeek Cellars are a community of families located in the Riebeek Valley, pooling their resources in order to access the best quality land, fruit and winemaking technology. With a crucial, local knowledge of the land and its manifold challenges, they are able to bring the consumer the best Swartland has to offer.
Extended barrel aging in less influential second and third use barrels ensures Pinotage’s fresh fruit profile is not overcome whilst adding a layer of complexity.
Tasting note: Raspberry and mince pie aromas on the nose. The palate weighty with soft, well-integrated tannins and notes of blueberry, plum and pepper.
Character: Blueberry, raspberry, pepper
