Wines
Sweetness: Dry
Grape: Sauvignon Blanc
Grape info: Though indigenous to France, Sauvignon’s unique aromatic profile has seen it successfully transplanted all over the world to become the third most cultivated variety, behind only Chardonnay and Airén. Its enduring popularity is down to its distinctive, multi-layered combination of youthful, ‘green’ flavours matched with a keen acidity, capable of producing wines of real substance.
About: Riebeek Cellars are a community of families located in the Riebeek Valley, pooling their resources in order to access the best quality land, fruit and winemaking technology with crucial, local knowledge of the land and its manifold challenges to bring the consumer the best Swartland has to offer.
Using only the best quality ’free-run’ juice, the Sauvignon is fermented at low temperatures before an extended lees-aging to develop its signature aromatics.
Tasting note: Herbaceous and fresh, the Sauvignon offers tropical undertones of gooseberries and passionfruit with green bell peppers and cut grass. Well-balanced with zesty acidity.
Character: Tropical, gooseberry, cut grass
